5 Daily Social Media To-Do’s
Using social media helps you build brand awareness, increases your customer base, and connects you to your current customers. However, it can also be something of a rabbit hole…sucking you in, distracting you and eating up valuable time, meaning keeping on top of the daily tasks can prove to be difficult. To help you stay focused, we’ve narrowed the list down to five, vital tasks, that if done every day can not only keep your social media channels ticking along but also transform them into tools to grow your business.
1. First social media task of the day, check for messages on each of your platforms and, most importantly, respond there and then. This will keep your response rates high, encouraging more customers to contact you via social media, and help with customer satisfaction as you respond to any questions in a timely way.
2. Check for, like and respond to any comments - make a point of being personal and meaningful in your responses as this will keep engagement high. Adding personality to your comments also makes your business sound real and less corporate, as well re-affirming your brand through the tone you use.
3. Go through the accounts you follow and make a point of liking, sharing and commenting on their posts and stories. This will strengthen connections with professional bodies, suppliers and those working in the same field who you admire. And who knows…it may even result in some unexpected opportunities to work with new people.
4. On Instagram, check hashtags relevant to your business and follow, like or comment on new accounts - this may earn you a bonus like or follow back but, more importantly, it is actually good social media practice and expands your network. On Twitter, look at trending hashtags and join in the conversation if relevant to you personally or to your business.
5. Post! Share your original content, reviews, views, blogs, or even other people's articles, stories or opinions if you find them relevant. This doesn't have to be a daily task and, to be honest, is probably better if it isn't. Planning and scheduling in advance creates much more relevant, targeted and valuable posts, BUT if you've struggled to get on the front foot, make the effort to post daily on your preferred platform to get yourself started again.
